I found this little widget at a camera store and thought it was cool and wanted to share it with everyone. It’s an inexpensive adapter that will convert your mop pole (or if you’re like me who’s boat hook has a threaded end) to a 1/4 inch #20 camera thread that will allow you to securely mount your POV camera.
But why would I want to do that you ask? How about checking the prop without having to get wet. How about getting an underwater shot of dolphins playing in the bow wave?
I bought mine from a local store but I found it on-line at Amazon.com for $20.00

My new find worked pretty good, but it was somewhat limited, I decided to do a little upgrading. I used an old cheap umbrella bracket to add a flexible joint to the system. For those of you who are not in the photography business/hobby these brackets are used to hold umbrellas and flashes on stands. If you have a photographer friend ask them if they have a cheap spare you can have. (A lot of manufacturers through them in with stands, most of us immediately replace them with our higher grade brackets, so they may have one laying around) As you can see, it’s much more versatile!
Oh.. A side note, I replaced the normal tightening knobs with screws to reduce the size and possible snag points. Not necessary just a personal preference.
Enjoy, Island Rambler
