Cool New Interactive map of the World’s Hazards

If you haven’t figured it out yet, Yes I’m a huge statistics and math nerd, I love seeing new and inventive ways big data is being used in today’s world. Some of it’s good, some of it’s down right evil (e.g. internet tracking) but every now and then something really awesome comes along and this website is one of those times.

The Global Hazards Atlas is an interactive map of the world displaying world hazards and conditions geographically. You can look up weather hazards, bio hazards, earthquakes, economic conditions, sea conditions, all kinds of interesting stuff. The only thing I didn’t see was piracy statuses, sneaky ass pirates.

This site is so cool, I’m adding it to the links page. You can check it out directly from here. Just be careful, once you figure out the user interface it can suck an hour out of your day in 5 minutes!
