FAQ

1.)
Q:Who are you?
A: I’m just an average guy from Texas looking for some above average adventure and trying to escape the rat race. Not to mention there’s no bumper to bumper traffic at sea, I can’t tell you how liberating that is.

2.)
Q: How did you choose your boat?
A: That’s a complicated question, in the end it came down to Teddy Roosevelt “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. ” She may not be the perfect blue water island hopper that we all dream about, but she’s solid, safe, and pretty.

3.)
Q:Why are you blogging on this trip?
A: I get this a lot! Isn’t it work keeping a blog going, why not just sit on the beach and have no cares. To be honest that crossed my mind but I want to share the experience with everyone. Especially with those who have the dream of sailing but are still land locked . I know in the early stages of my own planning I really needed to read other people’s adventure to keep me on track.
4.)
Q:Where’s your home port?
A: Kemah, Texas Which is South Houston just off Galveston Bay. Great place for a boat, I just wish the water was a nice sea blue instead of a Starbucks’ latte brown.

5.)
Q:What are you using to host this site?
A: Basically it’s just a WordPress install running at a small hosting company from Houston. But with that said I did a ton of customization to support the unique problem of expensive, intermittent. and slow communication links.

6.)
Q:Why are you doing this?
A: Ah where to begin? I guess the biggest reason is adventure. All the “normal” vacations I’ve taken to the Caribbean seems far too short and I always meet these amazing people sailing around. They are so relaxed, so happy, and have some of the best late night rum stories. I was intrigued; I love sailing, I love the Caribbean, I love meeting new people, and I love being free. This trip has all that plus a little risk thrown in for spice. My question is why NOT do it?
7.)
Q:If you are looking for adventure why not sail around the world?
A: Don’t think for a minute that thought didn’t pass through my mind, but after looking at it closely. I decided that those long desolate crossing were just not for me. I want to meet people, see new places, check out new bars. The Caribbean is perfect, I get to sail around like an old salt but the next island is only a few tacks away.
